A Wrexham man has been locked up for a vicious attack on his partner that left her with serious injuries. Richard Thomas, 41, of Caego, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Thursday, 16 April, where he was sentenced to over six years behind bars.
Shocking Abuse Uncovered
Thomas admitted to multiple charges, including three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, and intentional strangulation. The horrific offences took place in Wrexham last October. Police were alerted after the victim escaped her home, having endured weeks of violent abuse. She suffered extensive facial injuries, bruising all over her body from punches and kicks, and a burn mark suspected to be caused by a hot kettle. Bruises on her neck confirmed she had been strangled.
Six Years and a Lifelong Ban on Contact
Following his arrest, Thomas was remanded in custody until sentencing. The court handed him a prison term of six years and three months. He was also slapped with an indefinite Domestic Abuse Protection Order (DAPO), barring him from any contact with the victim for life. This case sends a clear message: domestic violence will not be tolerated, and offenders will face tough consequences.
