Zoo Abseil Down Spinnaker Tower Scrapped Over High Winds

The Isle of Wight Zoo’s daring charity abseil has been called off thanks to blustery conditions. An all-women team of eleven were set to rappel down the iconic Spinnaker Tower on Sunday to raise cash for rescued circus tigers.

The team hoped to haul in £6,000 for The Wildheart Trust’s £50,000 Hearts for Tigers Appeal. This vital campaign aims to give a forever home to tigers recently rescued from a Spanish circus.

Safety First, Funds Still Needed

The zoo announced the abseil was postponed “for safety reasons” due to the high winds. No new date yet, but organisers vow to reschedule “at the earliest opportunity.”

Spokesperson said: “We regret to cancel today’s event but are committed to making it happen soon. Please continue to support the cause.”
