A Biker has sadly died this afternoon(Thursday) following a fatal collision on the A36 near West Wellow.
The A36 was closed for over six hours after the collision, some of the factor police are looking at is flash flooding that hit the area at the time of the incident. Residents have said that around the time of the collision a thunderstorm hit the area.The road is dubbed ‘Death Valley’ by some local residents after claiming nearly 12 people over the past seven years.
A joint investigation is being carried out by Wiltshire and Hampshire Police who closed the major road just after 5pm. Officers from Wiltshire Police Collision investigation unit spent most of the evening carrying out an investigation and examination of both the motorbike and the car involved.
The collision involved two vehicles a motorbike and a car.
Dozens of emergency services staff, including paramedics and police, attended the Scene
A land ambulance and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance attempted to save the bikers life as the rider was flown from the scene by the air ambulance to the hospital but the rider sadly died later at hospital.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident near to the junction of Stock Lane is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting Operation Inc Log ref 232/1606
