Tragedy at Dunelm Maidstone: Woman Dies After Collapsing in Store
A shocking incident rocked the Dunelm store at London Retail Park, Maidstone, on Sunday, December 31. A woman collapsed inside the store and sadly died despite emergency teams rushing to her aid. The store shut down for the rest of the day and reopened on New Year’s Day.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
Ambulance crews received a 999 call around 10:50am and arrived swiftly. Paramedics and first responders worked frantically at the scene, but could not save the woman.
“Ambulance crews attended the scene, but despite the efforts of all those involved, the person sadly died at the scene,” confirmed a South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman.
Eyewitnesses reported a major emergency response, including two ambulances, police, and even an air ambulance dispatched to assist. Despite immediate medical treatment, the woman’s condition worsened rapidly.
Kent Police and Store Close to Protect Privacy
Kent Police also arrived, with officers supporting ambulance crews. A police spokesman revealed, “We were called to a medical incident at a retail premises in London Road, Maidstone, at around 11:15am on Sunday.”
To respect the privacy of those involved and manage the situation, Dunelm temporarily closed the store. Shoppers were left in the dark about the tragedy, but staff made it clear a serious medical emergency had unfolded.
