Armed Robber Strikes Convenience Store in Bordon, Escapes with Hundreds
An armed thug threatened staff at the One Stop Shop in Bordon, Hampshire, before making off with a three-figure sum in cash. The shocking daylight raid unfolded shortly after 6pm on Saturday, February 20, leaving customers and staff shaken.
Gun-Wielding Robber Hits One Stop Shop
A local resident spotted the masked man storm into the shop on Rydal Close. “He threatened the staff with what looked like a handgun,” they said. The raider demanded money from the till before fleeing on foot with the loot. Although the worker escaped injury, the ordeal has left them rattled.
Police Hunt Slim-Built Suspect
Police have described the suspect as a white male, about 5ft 9in tall, dressed all in dark clothes. Detective Sergeant Nicki Blackmun said:
“This is a very unusual incident and has obviously left those inside the store shocked but thankfully uninjured.”
She urged witnesses who were in the shop or saw anyone matching the description in the area to come forward:
“We want to speak to all customers and anyone who saw the suspect in the vicinity that evening.”
Extra Police Patrols and Ongoing Investigation
Two police vehicles remained outside the shop as it stayed sealed off into the evening. Hampshire Police reassured locals that such incidents are rare in Bordon, a typically peaceful town:
“We will be carrying out extra patrols to keep the community safe.”
