Tragic Pedestrian Death After Police Car Crash on Busy Brentford Road
Fatal Collision Shocks Brentford
The Metropolitan Police and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) have launched a joint probe after a marked police vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian on Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses Describe Horrific Scene
The crash happened at around 4.30pm on the A4 Great West Road, near the Boston Manor Road junction in Brentford. Bystanders say the man, believed to be around 40 years old, was using a pedestrian crossing when he was reportedly thrown into the air “like a rag doll.”
Emergency Response and Investigation Underway
Officers inside the police vehicle tried desperately to save the victim using defibrillators and trauma kits but sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Road closures remain as specialist investigators examine the vehicle and road surface under IOPC supervision.
A spokesman for the IOPC said: “We have begun an independent investigation into a fatal collision involving a Metropolitan Police vehicle and a male pedestrian on the A4 Great West Rd, Brentford this afternoon. The marked police vehicle was responding to an emergency call at the time.
“Sadly the man was declared dead at the scene. Following notification by the Metropolitan Police Service, we have dispatched investigators to the scene to carry out enquiries.”
