Brazen Battery and Solar Panel Theft Hits Edington Businesses
Thieves have struck twice at Edington’s Station Yard, making off with thousands of pounds worth of goods in daring daylight raids.
£10,000 Battery Haul Stolen in January
On January 2, crooks cut through a padlock to break into a business yard, stealing 90 battery cells valued at around £10,000. The audacity of the theft has left local firms on edge.
Second Raid Hits Solar Panels, Tools, and More
The shock didn’t end there. On January 21, the same tactic was used to cut another padlock at a nearby Station Yard business. This time, thieves made off with solar panels, cables, electrical gadgets, tools, and batteries.
Police Step Up Patrols and Call for Vigilance
PC Dan Chaventre said: “We believe these businesses were targeted specifically for the materials stolen. This wasn’t a quick smash-and-grab — it likely involved at least two people and took considerable time to load the stolen goods.”
“We’ve increased regular patrols and are conducting thorough investigations. We urge all business owners with similar stock to stay alert and report anything suspicious immediately.”
“We understand how frustrating these crimes are and are doing everything possible to catch those responsible.”
