A Man Has Been Charged With Murder After A 56-year-old Man Was Discovered Unresponsive In His South-east London Home.

At around 3.45pm on Wednesday, February 15, police and ambulance crews were called to a home in Durham Street, Lambeth.

A man, now identified as Shaun McEvoy, 56, was discovered unresponsive.

He was taken to a hospital in south London, where he died shortly afterwards.

On Friday, February 17, a post-mortem examination revealed that he had injuries consistent with an assault, but it was inconclusive.

On Thursday, March 2, Dedan Simmons, of Clapham Road in SW9, was charged with murder.

The 39-year-old is scheduled to appear in custody today at Bromley Magistrates’ Court (March 3).

Officers investigating the death of a man in Lambeth have charged a man with murder,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.

“On Thursday, 2 March, Dedan Simmons, 39, of Clapham Road, SW9, was charged.

“On Friday, March 3, he is scheduled to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 3.47pm on Wednesday, 15 February to reports of an unresponsive man at an address on Durham Street, SE11.

“Officers responded and administered emergency first aid.

A 56-year-old man was taken by the London Ambulance Service to a south London hospital where he died a short time later.

“He has been formally identified as Shaun McEvoy, and his next of kin has been notified.

“A post-mortem examination held on Friday, 17 February was inconclusive but did reveal that he had injuries consistent with an assault.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are looking into it.
