Man Found Unresponsive in Lambeth Dies After Assault
At 3.45pm on Wednesday, February 15, emergency crews rushed to a home on Durham Street, Lambeth. There, they found 56-year-old Shaun McEvoy unresponsive.
Despite efforts by police and ambulance teams, Shaun was taken to a south London hospital where he sadly died shortly after arrival.
Post-Mortem Points to Assault, But Inconclusive
A post-mortem on February 17 revealed injuries consistent with an assault, though the results were inconclusive. The investigation is now in the hands of detectives from the Specialist Crime Command.
Suspect Charged With Murder
On March 2, 39-year-old Dedan Simmons from Clapham Road, SW9, was charged with murder. He is set to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on March 3.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers responded and administered emergency first aid. The victim has been formally identified as Shaun McEvoy, and his next of kin has been notified. Detectives are continuing their investigation.”
