Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Near Dunbar
Tragedy struck early Monday near Dunbar, East Lothian, when a 45-year-old woman was fatally hit by a vehicle between the Thistly Cross and Spott Roundabouts. The collision happened at around 2:55am. Despite emergency crews rushing to the scene, the woman died instantly.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal for Witnesses
Chief Inspector Ben Leathes, East Lothian’s local area commander, confirmed that a full investigation is underway. He said,
“Our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing. Our officers are supporting the lady’s family.”
He urged anyone who was near the scene to come forward. “I wish to thank the members of the public who have already contacted us to assist but would ask anyone who was in the area at the time, who has not yet come forward, to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.”
Dash-Cam Footage Could Crack the Case
Police are keen to see dash-cam footage from motorists travelling along the A1 near Dunbar between 2:30am and 3:00am. Chief Inspector Leathes added,
“I’d also ask any motorist travelling on the A1 near Dunbar between 2.30am and 3.00am to check any dash-cam footage they may have as this could help our investigation.”
