A tragic three-car collision on New Year’s Day has claimed the life of an 18-year-old male passenger, while three others have been injured. The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 pm on the A35 near Kingston Russell in West Dorset, involving a silver Kia Sorento, a black Toyota Aygo, and a black BMW.
Dorset Police reported that the 18-year-old man from Cornwall, who was travelling as a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed, and they are undoubtedly grappling with this heart-wrenching loss. While three additional individuals sustained injuries in the accident, these injuries are fortunately not believed to be life-threatening.
Authorities have launched an appeal for witnesses or anyone possessing dashcam footage related to the incident to come forward. Sergeant Gareth Thomas, from the traffic unit, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collision. He urged anyone who witnessed the crash or observed the manner of driving of the involved vehicles before the incident to cooperate with the police investigation.
Additionally, Sergeant Gareth Thomas called upon motorists who were in the vicinity at the time of the accident and may have captured relevant footage on their dashcams to reach out to the authorities.
As a result of the collision, road closures were implemented between Dorchester and Bridport. Emergency services promptly responded to the incident, and a thorough examination of the scene was conducted.
