Kent Police have launched an investigation after multiple vehicles were damaged along the A2, with objects believed to have been fired from a catapult. The first report was received around 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, and was followed by additional alerts from drivers reporting damage to their vehicles.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found several objects inside the affected vehicles, which are suspected to have been launched from a catapult. The exact nature of the objects has not been disclosed, but police confirm no injuries were reported in connection to the incidents.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “At around 5.50 p.m. on Thursday 7 November 2024, Kent Police received the first of several calls relating to damage being caused to vehicles travelling on the A2 near Darenth. Objects were located within some of the vehicles that are believed to have been fired from a catapult.”
Officers conducted a search of the area and spoke with affected drivers to ensure their safety. As of now, no suspects have been identified, and enquiries into the incidents are ongoing.
Kent Police are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward as they work to identify those responsible.
