Shocking attack in Lochee
Ilia Belov, 22, allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old girl in St Ann Lane, Dundee, last August. The court heard he told the girl he’d show her “how to have a good time” before launching the attack.
Threatening behaviour caught on trial
Belov is also accused of behaving in a “threatening or abusive manner” towards the girl and three other girls aged between 12 and 14. At Dundee Sheriff Court, the complainant gave evidence via videolink, recalling how Belov made sexual comments as they walked to a bus stop.
“He kept saying, ‘come here sexy. I will show you how to have a good time’,” the girl said.
The girl, now 13, said she felt “angry” and shouted back at Belov, who then appeared to speak on the phone before a woman joined the group.
Assault escalates quickly
The girl described how the woman shoved her aside, grabbed another girl, and threw her to the ground. When she tried to intervene, she said Belov smashed her head into a pole “with a lot of force.” She pointed to the side of her head to show where she was hit, adding that Belov continued to kick the other girl in the head. The whole ordeal lasted five to eight minutes until police arrived.
Denial and defence in court
During cross-examination, Belov’s lawyer suggested he only grabbed the girl’s shoulder and claimed Belov was reacting to insults. The girl denied ever calling him an immigrant, disputing the defence’s claims. Another girl said Belov called the first witness “beautiful” or “pretty” but might have said other things. Despite the girls shouting for him to stop, he allegedly followed them closely to the bus stop, making them feel uncomfortable. Belov denies all charges. The trial is ongoing.
