Child Seriously Injured in Suspected Hit-and-Run on Reede Road, Dagenham
Shocking Incident on Reede Road
Emergency services are scrambling after a child was hit by a vehicle on Reede Road, Dagenham, on Sunday, December 1, just after 3 PM. Eyewitnesses say a woman was driving the car involved in the collision.
The victim suffered serious head injuries. Metropolitan Police officers were first on the scene, delivering vital first aid before paramedics from the London Ambulance Service rushed the child to a specialist trauma centre.
Road Closures Cause Chaos
Reede Road remains shut in both directions while police carry out a full investigation. The closure has caused major travel disruption locally. Bus route 364 is being diverted via Parsloes Avenue and Heathway.
Authorities have urged drivers to avoid the area and seek alternative routes to minimise delays.
Police Launch Urgent Appeal
The Metropolitan Police are urgently appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage near Reede Road around the time of the crash. Officers are working flat out to identify the driver responsible and piece together exactly what happened.
“We need anyone who saw anything or has video evidence to come forward,” a police spokesperson said.
