Major Delays as Emergency Services Respond to Crash

Traffic has been brought to a standstill on the M42 between Junction 6 (Birmingham Airport) and Junction 5 (Solihull) following a serious collision involving a car that has come to rest on its roof.

Emergency Response Underway

West Midlands Fire Service and National Highways Traffic Officers are currently at the scene, working to clear the wreckage and ensure the safety of motorists. There is no official update on injuries at this stage.

The incident has caused significant disruption, with delays of at least 30 minutes and four miles of congestion building on the approach.

Authorities are urging drivers to allow extra travel time or seek alternative routes while recovery operations are underway.

Alternative Routes:

  • Drivers heading southbound may consider A45 Coventry Road or A452 Chester Road as alternative options.
  • M6 or M40 could also provide longer but less congested detours.
