Two Men Arrested Under Public Order Act After Incident on Dublin-Bound Flight

Two men have been arrested under the Public Order Act following an incident aboard a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to Dublin on Tuesday evening.

The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were taken into custody after Gardaí met the aircraft, flight FR271, upon its arrival at Dublin Airport. The arrests followed reports of disruptive behaviour onboard, prompting the flight crew to request police assistance ahead of landing.

Garda Statement

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed the arrests in a statement:

“Gardaí attached to Dublin Airport arrested two men, one aged in his 30s and another in his 40s, following an incident on board an aircraft that landed at Dublin Airport last night.

“Gardaí met the aircraft and arrested the men under the Public Order Act. Both men have since been charged and are due to appear before a sitting of the District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice at a later date.

The spokesperson added that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Ryanair Responds to Disruptive Passengers

In response to the arrests, a Ryanair spokesperson reiterated the airline’s firm stance against disruptive behaviour, stating:

“The crew of this flight from London Stansted to Dublin called ahead for police assistance after a pair of passengers became disruptive onboard.

“Ryanair has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will continue to take decisive action to combat unruly passenger behaviour, ensuring that all passengers and crew travel in a safe and respectful environment, without unnecessary disruption.

Ongoing Investigation

The exact nature of the disruptive behaviour has not yet been detailed by authorities. However, both men are expected to appear before the District Court at the Criminal Courts of Justice at a later date.

Disruptive passenger incidents have become a growing concern in air travel, with airlines and law enforcement working together to crack down on such behaviour to ensure the safety of crew and passengers.
