Suspect Charged After Deliberately Ramming Police Vehicle in Harlesden

A suspect has been charged and remanded after deliberately ramming a police vehicle in Harlesden, causing minor injuries to officers and disabling their vehicle.

Incident Details

Officers from Metropolitan Police Harlesden (MPS Harlesden) attempted to stop a driver on the night of March 6, 2025, when the suspect deliberately rammed their police vehicle in an attempt to evade capture.

The impact caused minor injuries to the officers, and their vehicle was left inoperable. Despite the suspect’s actions, they were swiftly apprehended and taken into custody.

Charges and Court Action

The suspect has been charged with:

  • Three counts of assaulting emergency workers
  • Dangerous driving
  • Driving without insurance
  • Driving without a licence
  • Driving while disqualified

The individual has been remanded in custody ahead of their court appearance.

Calls for Tougher Sentencing

The incident has reignited calls for deliberately ramming a police vehicle to be recognised as a separate criminal offence, with campaigners pushing for an automatic minimum custodial sentence of two years.

A source for Met Police said: “This incident highlights the real dangers officers face daily. The deliberate ramming of police vehicles not only endangers officers but also puts the wider public at risk. Stronger legal consequences are needed to deter such reckless behaviour.”
