Driver Rams Police Car in Harlesden, Injures Officers and Cripples Vehicle
Police Chase Ends in Collision
A suspect has been charged after deliberately ramming a Metropolitan Police vehicle in Harlesden, causing minor injuries to officers and disabling the patrol car. The drama unfolded on the night of March 6, 2025, when MPS Harlesden officers tried to stop the driver.
Instead of stopping, the suspect slammed into the police vehicle, attempting to flee. The impact left officers hurt and the police car undriveable. Despite the reckless move, police quickly caught and arrested the suspect.
Serious Charges Laid
The individual now faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Three counts of assaulting emergency workers
- Dangerous driving
- Driving without insurance
- Driving without a licence
- Driving while disqualified
The suspect has been remanded in custody ahead of their upcoming court hearing.
Calls Grow for Harsher Laws
This brazen attack on police has reignited demands for deliberately ramming a police vehicle to become a standalone criminal offence, carrying an automatic minimum two-year jail term.
“This incident highlights the real dangers officers face daily. The deliberate ramming of police vehicles not only endangers officers but also puts the wider public at risk. Stronger legal consequences are needed to deter such reckless behaviour,” said a Metropolitan Police source.
Campaigners warn without tougher sentencing, such dangerous incidents will only continue to rise.
