A major section of the A34 southbound in Hampshire has been closed following a serious collision involving an overturned vehicle, causing significant disruption for motorists.

The closure is in place between the B4640 near Newbury and the A303 near Bullington, with all emergency services attending the scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on-site to assist with traffic management and to coordinate the ongoing response efforts.

Drivers are being advised to expect delays and to plan alternative routes, with a full diversion currently in place to ease congestion in the affected area.

Diversion Route Details (Solid Triangle Symbol):

  • Exit the A34 southbound at the Wash Common interchange (A343).
  • At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit to join the A343.
  • Continue on the A343 for approximately 14 miles towards Andover.
  • At the A3093 roundabout, take the 1st exit onto A3093 (Churchill Way).
  • Proceed over two intermediate roundabouts to the A303 Picket Twenty interchange.

  • Exit the A303, continue to a roundabout, and take the 2nd exit onto the link road.
  • At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit to rejoin the A34 southbound.

Further updates are expected as emergency services work to clear the scene and investigate the circumstances of the collision.
