Two teens nabbed after stolen moped chase through Welling and Oxleas Woods
Stolen Moped Spotted and Pursued
Two 16-year-olds were arrested after police recovered a stolen moped in Welling. The vehicle was reported stolen on April 4.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command (MPS RTPC) spotted the moped speeding along Shooters Hill. When the riders fled into Oxleas Woods, police sprang into action.
High-Speed Stop Without a Pursuit
To avoid a dangerous chase and keep the public safe, officers used a tactical contact technique to bring the moped to a halt. The two suspects were swiftly arrested at the scene on suspicion of vehicle theft and related offences.
Police Praise Teamwork and Urge Public Help
“Thanks to swift action and coordinated efforts, a stolen moped was recovered and two suspects were taken into custody. This operation highlights our commitment to community crime fighting and keeping the public safe,” said a Bexley MPS spokesperson.
The arrests come amid a borough-wide crackdown on motorbike, moped, and scooter crime by Bexley Police.
Call for Witnesses and Tip-Offs
