Major gas leak on Kilburn High Road sparks huge emergency response
A massive emergency operation kicked off on Sunday afternoon after reports of a gas leak ripped through Kilburn High Road in northwest London.
Eight Treated, Four Hospitalised
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) were called at 3:23pm on Sunday 21 July to NW6, where several people showed symptoms linked to the leak.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, an advanced paramedic, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team. We treated eight patients at the scene and took four of them to hospital,” an LAS spokesperson said.
Emergency Services Storm the Scene
Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police rushed to the area. Authorities quickly set up cordons along Kilburn High Road as specialist teams worked to isolate the gas leak and ventilate the affected zone.
Evacuations and Disruptions
The cause of the gas leak remains under investigation. Nearby homes and businesses were evacuated as a precaution. Transport routes through Kilburn were briefly disrupted, with the public urged to avoid the area.
