Ex-Detective Sergeant Convicted of Domestic Assault
Former Detective Sergeant Nathaniel Lee, once stationed at East Area Command Unit, was found guilty of assault by beating at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 27 July.
Details of the Assault
The offence took place on 5 October 2020 when Lee was off duty. He attacked his partner by pulling her hair and hoodie, causing her to fall to the ground.
Fines and Professional Consequences
- Lee was fined £969.
- He must also pay £620 in costs and a £97 victim surcharge.
- He recently resigned following a misconduct hearing for breaching police professional conduct standards.
Police Take a Firm Stand
East Area local commander Stuart Bell said: “Former DS Nathaniel Lee has been convicted of a serious offence. There is no place in the Met for anyone who commits domestic abuse and we will continue to hold those who carry out such offences to account.”
The conviction came after an investigation by Essex Police, in cooperation with the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, highlighting zero tolerance for domestic abuse within the force.
