James Corden’s new front garden makeover has sparked uproar in leafy Hampstead. The TV star had paving slabs laid for his wheelie bins, but neighbours and Camden Council are not impressed.

Neighbours Slam ‘Out of Character’ Hard Landscaping

Corden’s Victorian townhouse sits in a protected conservation area, known for its special historic and architectural charm. But the actor’s paving slabs, recycled from his back garden, didn’t win any fans. Locals say the hard landscaping looks “out of character” and damages the green vibe of the street.

“Front gardens being paved over is bad for the environment. It is not good for wildlife and reduces residents’ enjoyment,” said a neighbour who’s lived on the road for 40 years.

The council refused planning permission retroactively and ordered Corden to remove the paving within two months or face enforcement action.

Council, Locals Unite Against Loss of Green Space

Camden’s Lib Dem group leader, Cllr Tom Simon, slammed the plans, insisting there was no good reason to lose precious green space. “The application should be resisted,” he said.

Corden’s planning agents defended the changes, claiming the relandscaping “does not impact or diminish the positive contribution” of the home to the area’s character.

Family Home Under Scrutiny

Corden moved into the North London house last year with wife Julia Carey and their three kids. Now, the father-of-three faces a race against the clock to undo the paving that many feel has paved over Hampstead’s charm.
