James Corden’s Garden Makeover Sparks Hampstead Fury
James Corden’s front garden revamp has ruffled feathers in leafy Hampstead. The TV star laid paving slabs for his wheelie bins – but neighbours and Camden Council are far from impressed.
Neighbours Blast ‘Out of Character’ Hard Landscaping
Corden’s Victorian townhouse sits in a protected conservation area famed for its historic charm. But using recycled paving slabs from his back garden on the front has sparked backlash.
Locals say the hard landscaping looks “out of character” and wrecks the street’s green vibe.
“Front gardens being paved over is bad for the environment. It is not good for wildlife and reduces residents’ enjoyment,” said a neighbour who’s lived on the road for 40 years.
Camden Council has refused to grant planning permission retroactively. They have ordered Corden to rip up the slabs within two months or face enforcement action.
Council and Locals Unite to Defend Green Space
Camden Lib Dem group leader Cllr Tom Simon slammed the changes. “The application should be resisted,” he insisted, warning against the loss of precious greenery.
Corden’s planning agents argue the relandscaping “does not impact or diminish the positive contribution” of the home to the area’s character.
James Corden’s Family Home Under Pressure
The star moved into the North London property last year with wife Julia Carey and their three children. Now the father-of-three faces a ticking clock to undo the paving that many say has paved over Hampstead’s charm.
