Firefighters from three North Yorkshire stations raced to the rescue after a dog and its owner found themselves stranded on the opposite side of Bolton Abbey’s riverbank with no escape route.

The call came in just before 2pm on Sunday, 13:57, prompting crews from Grassington, Skipton, Ripon, and a West Yorkshire unit to scramble. Armed with a water rescue boat, they quickly got the stranded pair back to safety on dry land.

Grassington Fire Station praised the team: “Excitingly, this was one of FF Rymer’s first shouts. Well done!”
