Exmouth Lifeboat Station Window Saved by Family Firm’s Overnight Heroics
In August 2022, disaster struck at Exmouth Lifeboat Station when a massive 8x4ft window was smashed and urgently needed replacing. Enter MPS Glass & Window Centre, a long-standing family business in Pound Lane.
Race Against Time: Window Replaced in Under 48 Hours
The MPS team didn’t hang about. They hit the site in the dead of night, assessed the damage, crafted a perfectly shaped replacement, and fitted it—all within just 48 hours. The best bit? They donated the entire cost to Exmouth RNLI.
RNLI Boss Hands Out Special Thanks
For their rapid, selfless work, MPS Glass & Window Centre earned a special certificate from RNLI Chief Executive Mark Dowie. The award was handed over as a mark of gratitude on behalf of the RNLI Council.
“We are very appreciative of this special award that will take pride of place in our offices,” said Malcolm Sansom, Managing Director of MPS Windows. “We are a family company that has been in Exmouth for 31 years. As a keen water user myself, I’m only too aware of the vital work local RNLI volunteers do to keep people safe. Supporting them is the least we can do.”
Des White, Chair of the Exmouth RNLI Fundraising Team, added, “We were blown away by the speed and quality of MPS Windows’ repairs, and their generous donation of the costs. The RNLI Council’s recognition is well-deserved.”
This heartwarming act of generosity shows the true spirit of community in Exmouth — where family businesses and lifeboat volunteers pull together to keep the coast safe.
