Tragic Death of Teen Hit by Bus in Sheldon
Fifteen-year-old Sophie Jain Fletcher was fatally struck by a bus on Sheaf Lane, Sheldon, at around 3 p.m. on March 18. Despite emergency medics’ efforts, Sophie died shortly after arriving at hospital.

Family Pays Heartbreaking Tribute
In a moving statement, Sophie’s mother said: “Our precious daughter Sophie Jain Fletcher was taken from us on March 18, 2023, with deep sorrow and a heavy heart.”
“She was a lovely young lady with a wonderful personality and presence. Sophie will be sorely missed by family, friends, and her school community.”
Her mother continued, “Mommy will always hold your hand, and you will always be daddy’s little princess. Fly high, our lovely Sophie Soph. We will always love you, Mommy and Daddy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Specialist officers are supporting Sophie’s family through this difficult time. West Midlands Police urge anyone who witnessed the accident or has dash cam footage to come forward.
