Body Found in Barking as Hunt for Missing Dennis Farnell Turns Grim

Police searching for missing 62-year-old Dennis Farnell have recovered a man’s body in John Sayer Close, Barking. The grim discovery came around 11am on Saturday, 28 December.

While formal ID is pending, officers believe the body is that of Mr Farnell. His family have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

Post-Mortem Underway as Police Await Results

A post-mortem was carried out at Queen’s Hospital on Sunday, 29 December. Police are now waiting on further forensic tests. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Arrests Made But Investigation Continues

Detectives from East Area CID remain on the case. Several arrests have been made:

  • A 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman arrested on 24 December on suspicion of robbery and kidnap. Both have been released under investigation.
  • A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman also arrested on 24 December on suspicion of kidnap. Both have been bailed to return in late January.
