Deadly Caffeine Levels Found in Popular Muscle Supplement

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a stark warning over Sci-Mx Nutrition’s Ultra Muscle Strawberry Flavour powder. The 1.5kg bags with a best before date of March 2025 contain dangerously high caffeine levels — enough to kill.

Caffeine Overload: One Serving Packs a Punch

Tests revealed a single serving contains 5g of caffeine. The packaging recommends two servings daily, which means a whopping 10g of caffeine — a potentially fatal dose for most people. Even 3g can be deadly for caffeine-sensitive individuals.

Tina Potter, Head of Incidents at the FSA, said: “High caffeine levels can cause anxiety, sleeplessness, agitation, palpitations, diarrhoea, and restlessness. Those with mental health conditions risk worsened psychosis. These extreme amounts could lead to life-threatening effects.”

Home Bargains Pulls Product After Manufacturer Alert

Following a July 5th alert from Sci-Mx, Home Bargains has removed all strawberry-flavoured batches from its shelves. Recall posters are now up in all stores, and Sci-Mx is investigating the issue further.
