Shock as Sheep Chased Off Cliff to Its Death Near Newquay
Police have launched a probe after a sheep was chased over a cliff and killed in a shocking incident near Polly Joke beach, just outside Newquay.
The awful event took place on Sunday, 27 July 2025, when a man and two teenage children allegedly chased the poor animal until it fell from the cliff edge. Eyewitnesses say the man acted aggressively when confronted by members of the public.
Community Outraged by Cruelty
The incident has sparked fury in the local community. Devon and Cornwall Police’s Rural Affairs team is working with local officers to get to the bottom of the case.
“We can’t imagine why anyone would willingly chase or harm an innocent animal. Behaviour like this is unacceptable, and we will continue pursuing justice,” said Sergeant Jones.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers believe several people witnessed the grim scene but have yet to come forward.
“If you were in the area and saw anything or have footage, please get in touch,” Sgt Jones urged.
