FCDO Issues Terror Alert for Brits Heading to Madagascar

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has slapped a heightened terror alert on British travellers heading to Madagascar. Citing a “high threat of terrorist attacks,” the warning urges Brits to stay sharp while abroad.

Rising Terror Threats Worldwide

The alert follows a global spike in terror risks targeting UK nationals and interests. The FCDO warns that terrorists or lone attackers might strike British citizens even in countries with no recent terror records.

“There is a high threat of terrorist attack globally affecting UK interests and British nationals,” the FCDO said. “Stay aware of your surroundings at all times.”

Madagascar: No Recent Attacks, But Danger Lingers

Although Madagascar hasn’t seen recent terrorist incidents, the FCDO stresses the risk remains, especially in tourist hotspots like resorts, hotels, airports, and landmark sites.

“Terrorist attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by foreign nationals,” the advisory warned.

Travellers are urged to follow UK Counter Terrorism Policing guidance on what to do if caught up in an incident.
