Roof Blaze in Westfield Draws Big Firefighter Response

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service sprang into action at 12:26pm after smoke and flames erupted in a roof on Ebdens Hill, Westfield. Crews from Bohemia Road, The Ridge, Bexhill, Battle, and Herstmonceux rushed to the scene.

Firefighters Battle Blaze with Foam and Water

ESFRS confirmed four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using a hose reel jet and 1:7 foam mixture. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.

“The cause of the incident is unknown and an investigation will take place,” said a spokesperson for ESFRS.

Incident Scaled Down by Evening

By 5pm, the fire service had scaled the response down to one pump, signalling the blaze was under control but still under investigation.
