Swindon Fortitude Team Cracks Down on Local Crime Spree
The newly launched Fortitude proactive response unit is hitting hard against serious and repeat offenders. Their mission: slash crime, protect the vulnerable, and reclaim our streets.
Targeting The Worst Offenders
Detective Inspector Angela Shipp, head of the Fortitude team, revealed the smashing start to their campaign. “This week, we arrested numerous offenders in Swindon and Wiltshire,” she said. “We focused on those causing the most harm—exploiting children and vulnerable people through county lines gangs.”
“We’ve executed several positive warrants across Wiltshire, shutting down hubs where Class A and B drugs were being dealt. Thousands of pounds’ worth of drugs destined for the street have been taken off circulation.”
“We’ve nabbed suspects for burglary and robbery, and recovered high-value stolen vehicles by acting fast as a unit.”
Strong Message: No Let-Up for Persistent Criminals
“We are determined to tackle persistent offenders who threaten our communities, children, and vulnerable people. Fortitude has worked extremely hard and we will build on these results in the weeks and months ahead,” DI Shipp declared.
The Fortitude initiative targets the small number of criminals behind most crimes, aiming to improve life for law-abiding locals.
Powered by Public Support and Extra Officers
Thanks to backing from the public and a rise in the Police precept, 16 extra frontline police officers have been added. Fortitude merges the old Dedicated Tasking and Community Tasking teams into one powerhouse unit, soon to be beefed up with more officers.
The team splits into Swindon and County units, working closely with Community Policing Teams across the force area.
