In a distressing incident, a 17-year-old boy has been taken to the hospital following a stabbing in Thamesmead.
The incident unfolded in Southmere Drive at approximately 12:35pm today (March 13). Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with officers from the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and an air ambulance attending to the injured boy.
The victim was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment, where medical professionals assessed his condition as not life-threatening.
Just five minutes before the stabbing, at 12:30pm, another unsettling event occurred when a man was found uninjured after being assaulted by a group of individuals wielding baseball bats in Seacourt Road.
Following these incidents, a Section 60 order has been enforced in specific areas of Thamesmead, Erith, and Abbey Wood. This order grants police the authority to conduct stop-and-search operations without needing reasonable grounds. The order has been effective since 1:30pm today and will remain in place until 10pm tomorrow (March 14).
The Metropolitan Police have initiated investigations into both incidents. A crime scene has been established, and enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police provided further details, stating, “A 17-year-old boy was found with stab wounds. He has been taken to hospital. His injuries have been assessed as non-life-threatening.”
The London Ambulance Service also responded to the incident, dispatching multiple resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer. Additionally, a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance was dispatched to provide assistance.
As investigations continue into these troubling events, authorities urge anyone with information to come forward and assist in their enquiries.
