In a significant development, a 71-year-old man has been arrested today on suspicion of preventing lawful burial in connection with an ongoing investigation. The case centres around the discovery of human remains of a baby at a property in Marsh Green, Wigan, back in April.
This latest arrest brings the total number of individuals in custody to six. The other five people remain on police bail as our inquiries continue. Detective Chief Inspector John Davies, who is leading the investigation, emphasised the complexity of the case. He stated, “Our investigation has been ongoing since April 10, and it involves several dedicated detectives and specialists working tirelessly to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.”
A Home Office postmortem has already taken place on the remains, but further testing by various specialists is still required. The investigation remains open-minded, and progress is being made. Importantly, authorities have confirmed that no additional remains belonging to other individuals have been found in connection with this case.
