Brutal Attack on Quay Street

A 32-year-old man was viciously stabbed in the back during a serious assault on Quay Street, Fareham, on Monday morning, September 23. The victim, bleeding heavily, sprinted to the nearby Fareham Police Station for help.

Knifeman Arrested at the Scene

Police arrested Steven Colin Hardy, 44, of no fixed address, right at the scene. Officers recovered the weapon used in the attack – a knife – and found cannabis in Hardy’s possession.

Victim Stable in Hospital

The stabbed man received emergency treatment at Fareham Police Station before being rushed to Southampton General Hospital, where his condition is stable.

Court Date Set as Investigation Continues

Hardy was remanded in custody and appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 24. He faces charges including grievous bodily harm with intent, carrying a knife in public, and possession of cannabis. He is set to return to court on Monday, October 28 as police continue their investigation.
