Teen Fatally Stabbed on Way to Boxing Gym in South-East London
A 16-year-old boy was tragically stabbed to death while walking to a boxing gym with his social worker in south-east London, a court has heard.
Teon Campbell-Pitter was found dead in Fordham Park, New Cross, Lewisham, on April 13. The prosecution revealed the deadly attack followed an “aggressive” clash nearly a year earlier.
Old Feud Turned Fatal
Prosecutor Sally O’Neill KC told the jury that tension had simmered since March 2021 after a violent fight on Lewisham High Street. Teon was caught on CCTV with a “Rambo-style” survival knife tucked into his waistband during the incident.
Two unnamed 16-year-old boys, who were 15 at the time of Teon’s death, deny murder charges.
Violent Brawl Caught on CCTV
The footage shows Teon and his group acting aggressively towards one of the accused. When the youth pushed back, he was hit with a crutch. The fight continued despite the efforts of two adults attempting to break it up.
The first defendant told police he had been “jumped” and was recorded on a phone call vowing to kill those responsible. He also told a friend he “despised” Teon and planned to hurt him. He admits carrying a knife on April 13 but denies murder.
The second defendant, accused of aiding and encouraging the attack, also denies murder. The trial is ongoing.
