Scarborough Burglar Slapped with Six Years

Joseph George Johnson of Fieldside, Scarborough, has been sentenced to six years’ detention for aggravated burglary. That’s not all – he received an additional 30 months for assault with intent to rob.

Brutal Attack in Jonno’s Field

On 31 May 2020, Johnson threatened a 19-year-old with a screwdriver in Jonno’s Field, Scarborough. He stabbed the victim twice in the face while demanding money from him and his two friends. This horrifying attack earned him the charge of assault with intent to commit robbery.

Charged and Convicted

  • Assault with intent to rob for the May 31 field attack
  • Aggravated burglary with intent from the June 21 incident
  • Supply of cannabis after a 2019 police raid at his home uncovered drugs and paraphernalia

Johnson pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced at York Crown Court on 8 April 2021.

His accomplice from the family home burglary was handed over to a Youth Justice Panel, keeping them out of adult court.
