Knife Attack in Nottingham: Man Jailed After Stabbing Near Beastmarket Hill
Victim Stabbed During Late-Night Altercation
In the early hours of Sunday, 9 August 2020, a night out turned violent when a 25-year-old man was confronted and stabbed in Nottingham’s Beastmarket Hill. Colin Hartley, 22, of no fixed address, plunged a knife into the victim’s stomach before fleeing the scene.
Victim Undergoes Surgery but Escapes Serious Harm
The victim was rushed to hospital and underwent precautionary surgery to check for organ damage. Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening or permanent, and he is now on the road to a full recovery.
Hartley Caught and Sentenced After Police Investigation
Nottinghamshire Police launched a thorough investigation, analysing extensive CCTV footage to track down Hartley. He was arrested in early September 2020 and today was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to wounding at Nottingham Crown Court.
Police Warn on Knife Crime Dangers
Detective Constable Jerone Taylor said: “When a knife is used in an incident, there is always the potential for serious or potentially fatal consequences. Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured and is expected to make a full recovery.
“We will always thoroughly investigate knife crime and take action against offenders. Extensive investigative work led to Hartley’s arrest. I thank everyone involved for their hard work and determination.
“Hartley’s reckless behaviour could have cost someone their life. I hope this sentence gives him the chance to reflect on his actions.”
