Nicholas Fryers has been found guilty of a brutal attack at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, 17 November 2023. He denied the charges but was convicted by the jury.

Ex-Murderer Attacks Young Woman at Work

Fryers, 55, was working at a distribution centre on Littlebrook Manor Way as part of a day release programme after a 1993 murder conviction in Wales. The court heard he had been at the site for around two months when he became obsessed with a female colleague.

He bombarded the 24-year-old woman with gifts and relentless text messages, sparking concern over his behaviour.

Shocking Screwdriver Assault in Car Park

On the evening of Sunday, 9 April 2023, the victim told Fryers she no longer wanted a friendship. Later, he said he was leaving the site and told her to collect her belongings from his car.

As they walked to his vehicle, Fryers suddenly attacked her with a screwdriver, stabbing her in the head, chest, and back.

Heroic Witnesses and Dramatic Arrest

Two men working at the site rushed to intervene, trying to stop the savage assault in the car park. Fryers jumped into his car and fled the scene, but the victim managed to escape and seek help.

One brave man managed to rip the attacker’s car registration plate off before Fryers sped away. Kent and Essex Serious Crime officers tracked the vehicle as it left Kent, leading to Fryers’ arrest near Preston around 3.17am on 10 April.

Police Statement: Dangerous Offender Behind Bars

“Fryers completely lost control and launched a vicious attack on a young woman who was alone with him in a car park,” said Detective Inspector Ross Gurden.

“He is a dangerous man. I’m pleased the jury found him guilty and he has been held accountable. He now faces a lengthy sentence behind bars.”
