Knife-wielding thief nabbed over burglary and bike robbery in Nottingham
CCTV cameras worth £270 stolen in broad daylight
Police were called after three CCTV cameras, valued at £270, were ripped off a property on Alfreton Road, Arboretum, on 21 November 2022. This brazen theft left residents on edge.
Man threatened and robbed of mountain bike
Less than three weeks later, officers responded to another crime on 8 December when a man was threatened and had his mountain bike snatched on Mansfield Road, Mapperley Park.
Suspect caught with knife and charged
A breakthrough came on 3 January 2023, when Earl Haye, 49, from Bentinck Road, Arboretum, was arrested in connection with both crimes. Police found a lock knife on him at the time of arrest.
Haye now faces a string of charges: possession of a knife blade in public, robbery, receiving stolen goods, affray, and theft.
Court appearance and police vow crackdown
Haye appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 January and was remanded in custody pending his next hearing.
Inspector Ben Lawrence, leader of the 1 Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are committed to tackling all forms of crime to ensure our communities continue to be a safe place for both residents and businesses. We have been working hard to understand the full circumstances behind the reported incidents and I am pleased we have now been able to bring charges.”
