Train Predator Locked Up for Sexual Assault and Rampage
David Shaw, 50, from Beach Road, Bangor, has been jailed for a year after pleading guilty to sexual assault, common assault, and criminal damage at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court.
Shocking Assault on Llandudno Junction Train
On 14 July 2022, a drunk Shaw sat uncomfortably close to a teenage girl on a train near Llandudno Junction. Despite her clearly telling him she was just 15, Shaw wrapped his arms around her neck and sexually assaulted her. The victim and her friend quickly distanced themselves when the train stopped at Llandudno.
Violent Meltdown at Stations
After being banned from further travel, Shaw turned aggressive. He spat at a train driver, tore off his T-shirt in anger, and later smashed glass doors at Colwyn Bay station with a rock — causing over £660 in damage.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
BTP Constable Jon Liptrot said: “Shaw’s blatant disregard for the victim, who repeatedly told him she was 15, was staggering. I’m pleased to see him jailed — this sends a clear warning to offenders. The victim and her friend showed immense courage and quick thinking throughout.”
“If anyone witnesses or encounters a sexual offence on the railway, report it immediately by texting 61016 or using the Railway Guardian App. In an emergency, always call 999.”
Shaw was also slapped with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for a decade.
