Woolborough Man Jailed for Brutal Assaults

Palito Arteaga-Aponte, 46, from Woolborough Road, Crawley, was slammed with a prison sentence at Lewes Crown Court on 13 April. The court found him guilty of seven violent offences committed between June 2020 and January 2021.

Seven Offences Including Grievous Bodily Harm

Arteaga-Aponte was convicted of five counts of assault by beating and one count of grievous bodily harm without intent. He also admitted to one count of criminal damage from 2 January 2021.

Restraining Order Protects Victim

The court imposed a Restraining Order on Arteaga-Aponte, barring him from any contact with the victim indefinitely.

“Arteaga-Aponte’s abusive behaviour has had a huge impact on the victim but through her courage we were able to get the evidence needed to arrest him and secure a prosecution,” said DC Jedrzejewska of Crawley CID. “We supported her throughout the investigation and are pleased justice has been served.

The victim now has a measure of protection and reassurance, and is building a new life.”
