High Street remains closed to all traffic as crews battle to douse the flames, drawing water from nearby hydrants. This has caused disruption to Southern Vectis Route 3 buses, which are now on local diversions while emergency teams work.

Authorities have yet to determine what sparked the fire at the derelict hotel. They are warning locals and passersby to avoid the area to let fire crews handle the situation safely and swiftly.
