Christmas Chaos in Woking: 100-Person Brawl Sparks Police Hunt
Surrey Police are hunting for witnesses after a massive fight erupted in Woking town centre in the early hours of Christmas Day. Around 3am on Sunday, December 25, officers rushed to Chertsey Road following reports of a huge brawl involving up to 100 people.
Taxi Drivers Targeted Amid Street Mayhem
The disorder wasn’t just limited to the fight. Several taxi drivers were intimidated during the chaos, adding to the night’s tension. Four suspects have been arrested on suspicion of public order offences and are currently held in custody as the investigation continues.
Police Call for Witnesses and Footage
Surrey Police are urging anyone who witnessed the melee or captured it on phone cameras to step forward. They are also reviewing CCTV footage to identify others involved and want those witnesses to contact them urgently.
“Most people enjoy Christmas Eve safely, but this huge brawl spoiled the celebrations. Officers and police dogs were deployed, with helicopter support, to break up the fight,” said Superintendent Clinton Blackburn.
“The situation was difficult—officers even had coins thrown at them. But by 4am, calm was restored. We won’t tolerate this violent behaviour and are determined to bring those responsible to justice.”
