Lightning Strikes Bembridge Home: Family Faces Devastation Amid False Claims
Trolls have been stirring up trouble on Facebook and social media, falsely claiming that Chris Reed and his family had no insurance after their home was struck by lightning last Saturday. But the tight-knit Bembridge community quickly rallied, setting up collection jars and donating bedding and clothing to help the devastated family.
False Rumours Spark Community Support
Despite the vile rumours, Glenda Reed, the family matriarch, spoke out tonight to clear the air. “Dear all of Bembridge, we were devastated to hear that someone claimed we have no insurance and that’s why people are donating to us,” she said.
“We are insured. This was an act of nature, not neglect.”
Tragedy Strikes: Life Up In Flames
Glenda described the heartbreaking ordeal: “Imagine coming home one night to find your life of 40+ years burning. Not knowing if your son, mother, and loved ones are safe—and then losing your home. Our possessions weren’t ruined by flame but destroyed by torrents of water.”
The family now faces the daunting task of clearing away precious belongings, many lost forever in smoke and water damage.
A Message to Bembridge Well-Wishers
Glenda added a heartfelt message to the community: “To the wonderful people of Bembridge, if you choose not to give or want your donations back, please tell us and we’ll gladly return them. We don’t want anyone misled by lies to be unfairly burdened.
Thank you for your kindness.”
