Lenny Wells’ Crime Spree Ends Behind Bars
Lenny Wells, 34, from Eyres Way, Salisbury, was jailed for four years at Salisbury Crown Court on Friday (25/02). He was found guilty of conspiracy to steal from motor vehicles after smashing his way into 36 cars over a four-month crime spree.
Widespread Theft Across Five Counties
Between February 21 and June 21, Wells targeted cars parked at popular beauty spots, breaking windows and stealing valuables across Wiltshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset, and Devon. His offences covered a large swathe of southern England.
Police Crack Down on Persistent Offender
Detective Constable Jem Horner said: “This is a sentence which reflects the seriousness of the repeated offending by Wells.”
“This is the fourth time that Wells has been convicted of this offence since 2013.”
“I hope this sends a strong message that we will not tolerate such blatant disregard of the law and of the emotional and financial consequences that result from these actions.”
“The team that helped put this investigation together have worked hard to bring Wells to justice and I’m pleased that their efforts are reflected in this outcome. I hope this will bring some comfort to the numerous victims in this case.”
Recorder Don Tait branded Wells a “prolific thief” whose crime wave was “persistent and targeted.” With this latest conviction, Wells faces a lengthy stint behind bars, putting an end to his motor vehicle break-in spree—for now.
