Victim Stabbed Multiple Times
Sutton admitted to stabbing a 23-year-old woman repeatedly in the face, arms, and chest. The victim was lucky to survive the horrifying assault.
Police Race to Save Victim
- Officers at the scene stemmed the bleeding and rushed the injured woman in their police van to Scarborough Hospital.
- She was then transferred to Hull Royal Infirmary for emergency treatment.
Manhunt Ends in Arrest
- Sutton fled the scene immediately after the attack.
- A fireams operation was launched, including a police helicopter to track him down.
- He was caught hiding in a back garden on Mount View Avenue just over an hour after the stabbing.
Justice Served After Thorough Investigation
Scarborough and Ryedale CID secured Sutton’s guilty pleas for attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. The court handed down a significant sentence.
“This was an extremely brutal and frightening attack in which the victim was very lucky to survive,” said police.
Sutton has expressed remorse for his “reprehensible” actions, which could have caused fatal injuries. Police praised their Response Team for quick first aid and rapid hospital transfer before an ambulance arrived.
Sutton now faces a long sentence, giving him time to reflect and hopefully reform.
