Baseball Bat Attack Outside Southampton Pub Lands Man in Prison
Lewis Kerby, 27, from Bursledon, has been locked up for nearly three years after brutally smashing a man over the head with a baseball bat outside the Robin Hood pub in Southampton.
Violent Incident Spills Onto Southampton Streets
The trouble kicked off inside the Robin Hood on South East Road shortly after midnight on 19 August. An argument erupted, then spilled outside.
The victim, a man in his 30s, was trying to help his brother when Kerby struck him with the weapon. The attack caused a skull fracture requiring surgery, leaving the victim with a large scar and a metal plate in his head.
Swift Justice for Brutal Blows
Kerby pleaded guilty at Southampton Crown Court on 22 November to grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. He was sentenced to 32 months behind bars.
“This was a serious incident witnessed by many where the victim was brutally assaulted,” said DC Hayley Channell from CID West.
“One of our priorities in Southampton is keeping people safe around pubs and clubs. We work closely with door staff, venues, and the council to prevent violence. When offenders strike, they face swift justice — just like in this case.”
