Robbery Suspect Faces Court Over Violent Shop Attack in Rochester
Man Charged After Brutal Shop Robbery
Dedawan Kakel, 24, from Princes Road, Middlesbrough, has been charged with robbery and grievous bodily harm with intent. The charges stem from a violent shop attack in Rochester earlier this year.
Violent Assault and Cash Theft
The incident happened around 7.30pm on Monday 8 March 2021. A group of men allegedly attacked an employee at a shop on Darnley Road, Strood. During the assault, a quantity of cash was stolen.
Police Investigation Leads to Arrest
Kakel was arrested on Wednesday 21 July 2021 following a probe by the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad. He appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on 22 July and has been remanded to Maidstone Crown Court set for 19 August 2021.
Other Suspects Released Under Investigation
- Three other men, aged 24, 30, and 36, from Greater Manchester and Birmingham, were also arrested.
- They have since been released under investigation.
