Two Arrested in Shocking Murder of NHS Worker David Gomoh in Newham
Detectives have swooped in with two arrests over the brutal stabbing of 24-year-old David Gomoh in Newham. A 19-year-old man was nabbed in Stratford on Friday afternoon, followed by a 17-year-old caught at a home in Telford, Shropshire, the next day. Both remain in custody as police hunt for the truth behind this savage attack.
David Stabbed Just Seconds After Leaving Home
David, a London Southbank University marketing graduate and NHS key worker, was fatally stabbed around 10.25pm on Sunday, 26 April, shortly after stepping out of his house. The horrific attack happened on Freemasons Road, E16, near Kerry Close.
A post-mortem confirmed stab wounds to the chest and abdomen as the cause of death. David was speaking on the phone to a female friend and was not involved in any argument when he was attacked.
Stolen Car Linked to Murder Found Abandoned Nearby
Police believe the killers fled in a silver stolen Dodge Caliber. The car, stolen in Dagenham on 16 April and sporting cloned plates, was abandoned just minutes later at 10.30pm in Lincoln Road, E13, after illegally driving through a no-entry sign. It’s easy to spot thanks to a temporary wheel on the front passenger side.
Officers have released images of this vehicle and urged anyone who saw it around the crime scene, or has dash-cam or CCTV footage, to come forward immediately.
Family Devastated Amid Heartbreak
David’s family is now plunged into unimaginable grief. His father tragically passed away from Covid-19-related illness days before, with the funeral set for the same day David was killed.
“David’s mother, a nurse, and his sister have lost not one but two family members in one week,” said Detective Inspector Tony Kirk of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.
“David was a young man who worked hard to put himself through university and dedicated his career to the NHS. The only thing he did to be murdered was to walk down a street.”
“He was approached by masked men and attacked with multiple stab wounds in a vicious, unprovoked assault.”
“We urge anyone with information to come forward, no matter how small. Give David and his family the justice they deserve.”
